Obama's Comments on Quitting Trinity

clipped from www.politico.com

At a news conference in Aberdeen, S.D., after the news emerged on the blog of a black journalist in Chicago, Obama said he and his wife, Michelle, had notified the church in a letter Friday that they “were withdrawing as members of Trinity,” in part because of “a cultural and a stylistic gap.”

Obama said he also regrets “all the attention that my campaign has visited on” the church.

“We had reporters grabbing church bulletins and calling up the sick and the shut-in,” he said. “That’s just not how people should have to operate in their church.

I'm not sure what to add. It doesn't seem to me that, for Obama's campaign, quitting will make any difference one way or another -- anyone who's likely to base their opinion of Obama on his church has already based their opinion of Obama on his church.

If you saw Barak Obama give the press conference today where he ditched his church membership, then you saw a very troubled man indeed. I don't agree with his church's rhetoric but I did expect him to have loyalty to his church and to not be influenced by the media. Senator Obama just does not have the core beliefs and soul to lead our nation. He said that he refers to scripture every day. How can Senator Obama refer to the bible everyday and live with his own approval of abortion, the murder of God's unborn children. I just don't believe this poor lost soul of a man one bit.

This is a typical response from a right winger -- if you don't subscribe to my politics exactly, you aren't a real Christian.

Good thing that Americans are rejecting this message in droves. You people have fucked up this country for long enough.
