A Knight In Satan's Service
-Headline of the day-
"Condoleezza Rice enlists in Kiss Army fan club."
Back in High School, no one thought Condie was cool. So she became a concert pianist. Still no coolness. She had an oil tanker named after her. Not cool. She became National Security Advisor. Coolitude denied. She helped start a damned war. Nerd-y! She became Secretary of State. Uncool and double-nerdy. She joined KISS Army.
We'll see how that works out. (AP)
-Bush won't read Scottie's book-
Here's a surprise. According to the report, "At a closed-door fundraiser for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Wednesday, President Bush 'told an intimate audience that he hasn’t read his former spokesman Scott McClellan’s book, and doesn’t plan to, but he is disappointed with the criticisms made by the former White House confidant.'"
Who can blame him? He knows how the whole thing ends. (Think Progress)
-At least someone noticed-
About a week ago -- more or less -- Hillary Clinton told a Florida crowd that their situation in the Democratic primary was just like the situation faced by people in a third world sham democracy. "People go through the motions of an election only to have it discarded and disregarded," she said. "We're seeing that right now in Zimbabwe -- tragically an election was held, the president lost, they refused to abide by the will of the people. So we can never take for granted our precious right to vote."
Basically, she's either comparing Barack Obama to Robert Mugabe, the Democratic Party to Robert Mugabe, or Florida to Zimbabwe. I'm not really sure. Any way I look at it, the phrase "hopelessly inapt" pops into my head. After all, people are being killed in Zimbabwe -- so far, Weeki Wachee Springs is pretty much free of election-related bloodshed.
Finally, someone's caught the reference and, boy, are they pissed. Barack Obama? No. The Florida governor? No. Howard Dean? No.
Zimbabwe? Yes.
Zimbabwean Ambassador Machivenyika Mapuranga says Hillary's comments were made "out of ignorance or malice" and do not "tally with the facts."
Florida, Howard Dean, or Barack Obama have yet to register outrage. My conclusion, no one's paying any attention to a damned thing she says anymore.
At least, not outside of Zimbabwe. (Zimbabwe Guardian, via ABC News)
