Media Darling
-Headline of the day-
"Poll: More people think the media have been ‘easier’ on McCain."
More proof that we aren't as stupid as the media hopes we are. A NYT/CBS poll finds that, of all three candidates, more people think McCain's getting a free ride. While 28% think Clinton is having a harder time with the media and 27% think Obama is, only 11% think the same of John McCain -- 28% think he has it easier.
Says Washington Monthly's Kevin Drum, "Apparently we have pretty savvy news consumers here in America."
Dude, in this media environment, you have to be a "savvy news consumer." Otherwise, you're just an ignorant dope. (Think Progress)

"Mom appalled at racy books in store for teens at Alderwood mall."
A mom in Lynnwood, Washington was shocked to find "racy" materials at her local Urban Outfitters. According to the report, "On one end of the spectrum was 'Porn for Women,' a photo book showing men doing housework. On the other was 'Pornogami: A Guide to the Ancient Art of Paper-Folding for Adults,' a guide for making anatomically correct artwork."
"When I saw it, I was shocked," she said. In fact, she was so freaked out she plans to file a complaint with the city, has called her local congress critter, various right wing evangelical nutjob groups like Morality in Media, Concerned Women of America and the American Family Association, and Urban Outfitters' corporate office in Philadelphia.
Of course, none of this is really very funny unless you know the freaked out mom's name.
