McCain campaign adviser Charlie Black
-Headline of the day-
"McCain strategist: Terrorist attack ‘would be a big advantage’ in election."
For McCain, that is. For the victims... Yeah, not so much.
The issuer of the fatwa was "top McCain strategist" Charlie Black. An interviewer for Fortune magazine called Black's response "startling candor" and says he told him that the assassination of Pakistani candidate Benazir Bhutto helped McCain in New Hampshire, giving him a chance to "reemphasized that this is the guy who’s ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us."
I'm not sure that hoping for a terrorist attack and celebrating political assassinations -- at least, publicly -- isn't just a little too much "straight talk." I mean, there's honesty and then there's just plain stupidity.
Take a lesson from George W. Bush; if this is the kind of candidate you really are, you want to lie your lying ass off about it. After all, that worked for Dubya. (Raw Story)
-Bonus HotD-
"Blitzer: Polls show Obama, McCain strong on different issues."
Wisco: Duh. That's why there's an election. (CNN)
-Who'll butcher our sacred cows now?-
I can't let the roundup go by without mentioning the loss of comic George Carlin, at 71 from heart failure.
Carlin on George W. Bush and the neocons; "Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part to us, do they?"
All I can say about this loss is, "Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits!"
You may not be able to say them on television, but you can say them on the internet. (The Nation)
