John McCain knows the importance of edumacation
-Headline of the day-
"McCain worried about the 'situation on the Iraq/Pakistan border' (Note to McCain: Iraq doesn't border Pakistan)."
On ABC's Good Morning America, Ferdinand Magellan McCain got a little lost on his middle eastern/south Asian geography when he told Diane Sawyer, "I think it’s serious... It's a serious situation, but there's a lot of things we need to do. We have a lot of work to do and I'm afraid it's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq/Pakistan border."
That "border" between Iraq and Pakistan? It's 1,636,000 square kilometers altogether and is commonly referred to as "Iran." This comes after Baghdad Johnny has twice referred to the Czech Republic as "Czechoslovakia" -- a country that ceased to exist in 1993.
Can someone on Team McCain go to the damned library and get a world atlas? (AMERICAblog)
-Bonus HotD-
"During a segment on education, Fox News misspells the word 'education.'"
FOX News robot Brett Baier reports that "the high price of gas may be costing your kids some of their education. We’ll explain here." His talking head appears above a banner that screams, "WILL HIGH GAS PRICES COST YOUR KIDS THEIR EDUCTAION?"
Maybe, but you've got to wonder what FOX's excuse is.
I guess FOX editors learned spelling from the same guy who taught John McCain geography. FOX News, folks -- doing its part to make Americans dumber. (Think Progress)
-The clap is more popular-
A new American research Group poll finds that only 21% of Americans approve of Dubya's handling of his job, while 72% disapprove. On the economy, Bush rates 17% approve/ 77% disapprove.
According to the report, "76% say the national economy is getting worse, 61% say their household financial situations are getting worse, and 68% say the national economy is in a recession."
On the good news front, separate polling shows only 46.31% find Bush annoying. I'm guessing they haven't been exposed to Bush's "pull my finger" joke. (Political Wire, AmIAnnoying.com)
