The moral of this story, boys and girls, is that Joe Lieberman sucks just as bad as a Republican as he does as a Democrat. (McClatchy)
-Bonus HotD-
"Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: 'There’s just as many convoy attacks in America as there are in Iraq.'"
No seriously, that's what he said. Here's the transcript of the exchange in question, from the radio show Brian and the Judge:
KILMEADE: Do you think one of those people could have said, Barack, now that you’re sitting down here in a wonderful summer day, now that we understand that the green zone could come down in 6 months, they’re building– a five-star hotel’s been cleared to be built inside Baghdad, now that you understand that convoy attacks are down to 1 percent — that’s the same percentage that’s in America! I think there’s just as many convoy attacks in America as there are in Iraq–
JUDGE: Now let’s not get carried away. When’s the last time there was a convoy attack in America?
KILMEADE: Okay, fine. Can you roll with me for second?
No word on what the answer to that was, but you kind of hope it was "no." (Think Progress)
-Lesbian follow up-
The epic Greek legal battle has ended. From now on, Lesbian lesbians, Lesbian non-lesbians, and non-Lesbian lesbians are all lesbians. Non-Lesbian non-lesbians still aren't lesbians, but no one ever thought they were.
Hope that clears everything up. (Reuters)
-GOP feeling jilted, hurt-
It's no secret that the Republican National Committee's feeling a bit down lately, but a recent fundraising letter suggests they're downright depressed -- and resorting to the sort of passive/aggressive BS that a dumped high-schooler might resort to.
The fundraiser takes a strategy referred to as "assumed support" to absurd levels. Where the average AS letter would congratulate you on all the support you've given in the past (regardless of whether any of the support has been recent), this one clubs you over the head with guilt and -- can it be? -- hurt feelings:
Dear _____,
I don't want to believe that you've abandoned the Republican Party, but I have to ask... Have you given up?
Our records show that we have not yet received your Republican National Committee membership renewal for the critical 2008 presidential election year.
As the Treasurer of the RNC, I know our Party's success depends directly on grassroots leaders like you.
So I am surprised and concerned especially because I know how generously you supported President Bush and the RNC in the past. You helped to advance our vision for America and elect Republicans at all levels of government.
_____, I know other things come up, and perhaps you've just been delayed in renewing your membership. If that's the case, I understand.
But we've not heard from you this year -- and I hope you haven't deserted our Party.
Your generous financial assistance and active involvement are more important than ever as we work to elect a new Republican president and Congress.
The report doesn't say it, but I'm guessing the letter is signed with a sad smiley face. Give to the GOP people or you'll make a Republican cry. (Bilerico Report)
