The Obama campaign responds to McCain's "maverick" claims. I don't see why this "maverick" thing works. Shouldn't it look phony when you're doing it yourself? Isn't it like saying "I'm handsome" or "I'm cool?" Normally, people don't like it when you compliment yourself.
Still, McCain must've polled it or focus-grouped it. I doubt he'd keep doing it if it weren't going somewhere.
