The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 10/1/08

national debt clock
Not a big enough number

-1e+12-
That's what my calculator displays when I try to enter 10,000,000,000,000. Turns out that this is a problem of national significance. There's a National Debt Clock near Times Square that can't handle that equation either, so the clock is going to have to be retired. Currently, the debt stands at $9.8 trillion and, with some sort of Wall Street bailout in the offing, the clock's not going to be able to handle the new figure.

No worries though, numbers go on for ever and ever. We can always get a new clock. When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade -- then sell it for a billion dollars a glass so you can afford to buy socks. (Portfolio.com)

-Headline of the day-
"Nervous GOP Urges McCain to Attack."

Because that's been working so well for him so far. Seriously, when did he stop?

This is kind of like standing at the edge of a pool, watching someone drown, and yelling, "SWIM!! SWIM!!!" He's trying, the problem is that it's not working. (Politico)

-Bonus HotD-
"Anti-Obama sign stirs controversy in Florida."

Of course it's in Florida. It's always in Florida. I think conservatives down there have swamp fever or something.

According to the report, "A Florida man is receiving attention for a sign that is not only offensive and factually inaccurate, it also contains a key misspelling." A hand-lettered sign in Andy Lacasse's yard reads "OBAMA HALF-BREED MUSLIN."

Let's go over the checklist, shall we? Racist -- calling someone a "half-breed" certainly qualifies. Uninformed -- Obama is not a durable cloth-like fabric. Stupid -- is there any doubt? Yup, whatcha got here is yer basic Florida Republican.

What a moran. (Raw Story, with video)
