The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 10/15/08

Darth Vader
Would get more votes than John McCain

-Not all the dumb people support McCain-
Just the ones who are crazy, too. Obama has his own supporters with room temperature IQs and what they say is bad news for John McCain. From the report, about a focus group for an anti-Obama ad:

Yes, the spot worked. Yes, they believed the charges against Obama. Yes, they actually think he's too liberal, consorts with bad people and WON'T BE A GOOD PRESIDENT...but they STILL don't give a fuck. They said right out, "He won't do anything better than McCain" but they're STILL voting for Obama.

[...]

The next was a woman, late 50s, Democrat but strongly pro-life. Loved B. and H. Clinton, loved Bush in 2000. "Well, I don't know much about this terrorist group Barack used to be in with that Weather guy but I'm sick of paying for health insurance at work and that's why I'm supporting Barack."

She's bought McCain's lie that Obama's a terrorist and she still thinks he's better than McCain. The consultant conducting the research said, "I felt like I was taking crazy pills. I sat on the other side of the glass and realized...this really is the Apocalypse. The Seventh Seal is broken and its time for eight years of pure, delicious crazy...."

In other words, John McCain would lose to an actual terrorist. Hey GOP, may you live in interesting times. (Politico)

-Headline of the day-
"Rush Limbaugh Says Angry Blacks Are In 30 Year Plot To Train Black Children as Militants."

This one's kind of a stumper for me; is it more racist than paranoid or more paranoid than racist? In a fairly long rant, Rusty hits the classic racist smear -- that blacks are all lazy -- then moves off in the new direction that they're all angry and anti-American. And no, I'm not interpreting him too broadly, that's actually what he says.

Limbaugh tells us that a "majority of the black population has remained angry, frustrated, and behind," which of course is their own damned fault, because the "federal government became the father." All of this results in Acorn, which is "part of an entire movement that has been going on for two, maybe three decades, right under our noses" and has "been training young black kids to hate, hate, hate this country, and they trained their parents before that to hate, hate, hate this country." You assume he didn't shoehorn in a reference to how much blacks like watermelon and fried chicken because he was up against an ad break and running out of time.

This is the same guy who calls raising taxes on the wealthy "class warfare." I guess race warfare is totally cool.

I hate, hate, hate Rush Limbaugh. (Crooks and Liars, who has the clip)

-Speaking of racism-
Fox News runs the headline, "Hip-Hop-Dancing Colin Powell Fuels Speculation He'll Endorse Obama."

What?

Colin Powell apparently "fueled speculation" that he'd endorse Barack Obama by addressing an "Africa Rising" celebration in London and doing a little dance with musicians. Seriously, that's the big clue about who he's voting for.

Although, to be fair, I think that if Powell does endorse, he'll probably endorse Obama. We Irish-Americans have to stick together.

Not surprisingly, there is no byline. Fox News seems to have been unable to find anyone to put their name on this crap. (Fox, via Think Progress)
