I'm so glad the Republican National Committee chose Michael Steele as their leader. He really sucks at spin and logic seems to be a foreign concept to him. For instance, in a speech in Georgia, Steele came out against all marriages -- although he really didn't mean to. In trying to paint same-sex marriage as a burden on small businesses, he made an argument against any marriage.
In a breakfast speech to delegates of the Georgia Republican convention, Steele put himself in the shoes of a small business owner having to pay for health care and life insurance for a same-sex couple.
"Now all of a sudden I've got someone who wasn't a spouse before, that I had no responsibility for, who is now getting claimed as a spouse that I now have financial responsibility for," Steele said. "So how do I pay for that? Who pays for that? You just cost me money."
Obviously, this is just as true of any marriage. So Michael Steele says don't get married, kids. You'll wreck capitalism. The GOP is now the anti-marriage party.
That message ought to go over real well.
