That's right, the nation's capital falls to the Homosexual Menace. The dark moment was caught for posterity by CNN:
Oh, the humanity... According to the report, among the horrific consequences of this historic defeat for red-blooded Americans is a boost to DC's economy "by over $52.2 million over three years, which would generate increases in local government tax and fee revenues by $5.4 million and create approximately 700 new jobs."
Clearly, we are doomed. I counsel panic. (Think Progress)

You might remember way back to yesterday, when I reported that the John Birch Society would be co-sponsoring the Crazy People's Action Conference next year. Well, it turns out that Birchers have a Google alert set for any combination of the words "John Birch" and "loopy," which ought to keep them pretty busy.
Anyhoo, my post set off the batsignal at JBS headquarters and I got the following comment to my roundup:
When Hillary Clinton mentions a "vast right-wing conspiracy" or global-warming advocates accuse all those who oppose their bad science as "tools of the oil industry" or when a recent journalist claims that a wealthy capitalist, whose father was a founder member of The John Birch Society, has been funding the opposition to Obama Care, the kept media nods its collectivist head in agreement. But when The John Birch Society quotes from David Rockefeller's own autobiography about his support of a one-world government or when it brings evidence to light about plans for a North American Union, the corporate media labels The JBS, "conspiracy nuts." In some cases, lazy journalists, who never leave the comfort of their cubicle, simply rehash the same old lies about The John Birch Society.
It appears that the American people are finally catching up with The John Birch Society. Your smears, and ridicule aren't as efective as they have been. Why? Because what The John Birch Society has been saying is unfolding right before us.

So, did David Rockefeller say he was for a "one world government?" What do you think? Is there a big plot to start a North American Union? Only in the fevered imaginations of crazy people.
And, if Birchers had been right in everything they'd predicted, we'd all be speaking Russian right now. Americans aren't "finally catching up with The John Birch Society," because polling shows that, on almost every single issue, the right is out of the mainstream -- and JBS is about as far right as you can get without sewing swastikas on your shirt.
There's a reason that the JBS batsignal goes off so often Hal; the consensus position is that you guys are a bunch of frootloops. And, if you don't like people pointing that you're insane, maybe the wise thing to do would be to stop being so insane!
But hey, I guess everyone has to have a hobby and the JBS's hobby is freaking out that someone's putting fluoride in your water. At least it keeps them off the streets. (Griper News)

i am in agreement with the contents of this blog regularly except with the refutation of the rockefeller quote. here it is pasted below.
In 2002, Random House, in New York, published his Memoirs. Remember, this is not someone accusing him of something. This is David Rockefeller himself talking on page 405:
For more than a century, ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as "internationalists" and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.

Your comment that the Nazis are far right demonstrates your lack of understanding. Nazi stands for National Socialism. By the way, The JBS exposed Kurt Waldheim for his Nazi past a decade before the mainstream media did, and when the Left was praising the PLO back in the 1960's, The JBS exposed them a as a Communist-trained terrorist organization.
You appear to be a victim of the misinformation that the mainstream press has been circulating. View our "Overview of America" program available on You Tube to get a better understanding of history and economics.
You said that our positions are out of the mainstream and that is suppose to be an indication of insanity. If being out of the main stream is a sign of insanity, we are in good company.
What type of government does the United States have? The main stream would say " a democracy" and they would be wrong. We are a republic. (Article, 4,Section 4 of the U.S.Constitution.) What right does the 2nd Amendment give us? Most of the so-called mainstream would't know. Others would say it "gives us the right to own firearms." They would be wrong. It protects the right to keep and bear arms.
On the subject of fluoridation, we did publish articles over the years against putting an aluminum by-product in public drinking water. Today, you will find opposition against fluoride in almost any health magazine.
Ernie also has a Google alert and anytime that The John Birch Society is mentioned, he puts in a link to his web site and claims to have info from J. Edgar Hoover on The JBS. It is interesting to note that The JBS is one of the few organizatons that has anything good to say about the late J Edgar Hoover. During the Clinton Administration, The FBI opened up an office in Moscow. The FBI director of the time, Lois Free, held a press confrence along with the head of Russia's state police and said "together we are invincible." What can you tell us about that Ernie?
Back in the early 1960's, certain elements of the Left demanded an investigation of The JBS. The only official invesigation was done by the State of California. After a two year invesigation, we were cleared of any negative charges.
While thankfully we don't speak Russian, last October the White House and certain cities around the U.S.A. held celebrations honoring the 60th Anniversity of communist rule in China. This is the same communist regime that murdered over 60 million of its people (A fact that one use to be able to find in "The Guinness World Book of Records" until it was taken out back in the mid 1990's'
Thankfully ,a healthy percentasge of the American people are starting to look for answers. Hundreds of thousands if not millions are fed up with bailouts, regulations, high taxes, spy cameras popping up all over the U.S., illegal immigrants that have more rights than U.S. citizens, endless no-win wars, the proposed takeover of our health care industry, the proposed Cap and Trade which will have no impact on the environment but will further enrich the the likes of Al Gore and the folks at Goldman Sachs. Obama Care, Cap and and this scares the wits out of the likes of you.

The David Rockefeller quote is genuine but as is often the case with "quotes" used by the extreme right, they seek to demonize people who simply wanted to find a way to insure that our nation remained free, prosperous, and stable and would never need to engage in another cataclysm such as the two World Wars.
Hal Shurtleff tries to divert attention from the conclusions made by the FBI regarding the JBS by asking me to comment upon the remark he mentions. Let's be logical for a moment, ok Hal? Even if your quotation is entirely accurate -- it has no bearing whatsoever upon whether or not J. Edgar Hoover and senior FBI officials within their Domestic Intelligence Division thought the JBS was harmful to genuine anti-communist efforts.
The fact remains that Hoover and senior FBI officials concluded (along with virtually the entire conservative and anti-communist movements) that Welch and the JBS were "extremist", "irrational", "irresponsible", "fanatics" and "lunatic fringe" -- and 12,000 pages of the FBI main file on the JBS give details regarding why the Bureau arrived at their conclusion.
My report gives a good introduction to their thinking. So, Hal, CANDIDLY ACKNOWLEDGE that I am ACCURATELY, FACTUALLY, AND TRUTHFULLY presenting data from FBI files --- and then -- ONLY then -- can our discussion continue!
