News Roundup for 1/19/11

Sarah Palin announces her 2012 campaign slogan

-Headline of the day-
"Palin for President? Forget It."

Everyone knows that if you don't think Sarah Palin can be elected, you're a commie! She is simply the finest American ever to stride the Earth in really, really expensive shoes since... Well, I don't know who. I was going to say Reagan, but he was famous for the really cheap shoes he bought at Farm & Fleet. I guess that must make her the greatest.

However, it must come as a shock to rightwingers that Power Line's John Hinderaker is a commie! Because he thinks Sarah doesn't stand a chance in hell.

"The time has come to put any thoughts of Sarah Palin running for President to rest. I say that not because I dislike her; on the contrary, I'm a fan," he writes. "...No one with a 59 percent unfavorability rating among independents has the chance of a snowball in Hell of being elected President. 2012 will be a vitally important election year; it is no time for a kamikaze Presidential campaign or for a cult of personality."

OK, so it's just common sense. But conservatives don't react well to common sense and, when reality tells them they can't do something, they take it as a challenge. Ha! Take that, probability!

"Why is such an announcement necessary now, at the very moment that the conservative movement is trying to fight back against the mainstream media campaign related to the Tucson shooting?" writes Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion's William A. Jacobson, accepting the challenge. "You can throw Palin under the bus if you want, but what will you do when the next candidate faces blistering false accusations which drive negatives high after a mainstream media feeding frenzy?"

Hey Bill, that's a good question. Why don't you ask Barack Obama that question? He'd be the expert on facing "blistering false accusations," now wouldn't he? (Power Line)

-Handy tip-
I'm tucking this one away until I get really old.

"Lemme tell ya, you kids got it easy..." (Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal)

-Bonus HotD-
"McCain: Hopes Obama considers Lieberman for defense secretary."

See, because McCain and Lieberman have been so right about things like Iraq. (CNN)
