A judge denies Wisconsin Gov. Walker's request that the recall be delayed.


The GOP may find their contraception stance pretty expensive come election day.


To provide cover for that stance, at least one Republican resorts to just making stuff up.


It pays to remember that Pat Buchanan is just awful.


About that "failed stimulus."


It's starting to look like Romney's really in trouble and top GOPers are panicking.


Gingrich's Sugar Daddy isn't abandoning him quite yet. I'm not really all that surprised. No one expected Gingrich to win -- not even Sheldon Adelson. The billionaire 's contributions have been message money, not candidate money. He wants GOP candidates to talk about the things Newt Gingrich talks about. I mean, come one, the guy's a freakin' casino magnate -- he knows a losing bet when he sees one.


Finally, how insane is Rick Santorum? If he was telling the truth in 2008, he believes that Satan is using protestant churches to destroy America. That crazy enough for you?

Stories to Watch: 1/8/12

There weren't any headlines yesterday, because I couldn't get to them. If you're ever jonesing for up to the minute stuff, allow me to plug suggest the Progressive New Must-Read Superfeed. At the ABC News GOP debate, George Stephanopoulos lets Mitt Romney get away with a whopper. ABC needs to stop letting George moderate debates because, frankly, he's awful.


Team Newt isn't as inclined as Stephanopoulos to let Mittens' Bain years slide.


Another Romney whopper.


And while the media is saying that Mittens did well in the debate, it's clear he did a lot of lying.


He also suggested that only rich people should run for office. And Mittens won the debate? Really?


The religious right are flocking to Santorum's camp. Not extremely surprising, but I'd urge caution to anyone thinking they're seeing a split in the GOP -- remember all the "Social conservatives rally around [insert failed and abandoned candidate here]" headlines we've seen. These people are flighty, disloyal, and easily spooked.


MSNBC finally realizes that Pat Buchanan is a racist lunatic incapable of real world analysis. He's been "suspended indefinitely" from the network. And lo, there was a great rejoicing.


Finally, Romney's lead in New Hampshire begins to shrink.

News Roundup for 11/9/11

"Mark Block is making a laughing stock out of Herman Cain."

Actually, I'm thinking that Herman Cain Train has already left the station. But it turns out that the wingnuts are just starting to catch one.

See, Cain's campaign manager Mark Block is making some waves today after claiming that the campaign had "confirmed" that the son of one of the women accusing Herman of sexual harassment works for Politico.

And here's how that confirmation process apparently went; Block gets on that there Google machine, types in the name of one of the accusers -- "Kraushaar" -- then types in "Politico" (because they broke the story originally) and there ya go. Up pops "Josh Kraushaar."

Bingo! You've got your scapegoat unethical journalist conducting a smear campaign against a True American Patriot. It makes perfect sense to believe that Josh is the woman's son -- if you assume that Karen Kraushaar was the first person in the history of the world to ever use that last name.

Surprisingly, it turns out she's not. Josh is some other woman's son. In fact, Josh doesn't even work at Politico anymore and, since he left for National Journal in 2010, has never written a danged thing about Herman Cain's way with the ladies.

So of course, everyone's after the Cigarette Smoking Man's head now. Everyone wants him gone, because he's the only person standing in the way between Herman and his rightful place on the Throne of the King of the United States. "If he can’t do any better than this, he needs to go," writes whatever wingnut writes stuff at The RightScoop. "In fact, I think it is probably best for Herman Cain’s survival that he dumps Mark Block and gets someone more professional and thorough in there to run his campaign."

They may not yet realize that Herman Cain is toast, but they're all starting to get that Mark Block is a dope. Block would be lucky if a conservative lets him run a Burger King after this. (RightScoop)
