Police have arrested the resident of Smyrna Beach, FL for marijuana possession and disorderly intoxication after a police officer spotted him arguing with his estranged wife in a car. A little while back I reported that former WI Governor Tommy Thompson had to retract an answer he gave at the GOP presidential debates. Asked if employers should be allowed to fire people for being gay, he answered yes. He was advocating a violation of WI law.
He's finally cooked up an explanation for that answer and I can only quote the AP story directly to do it any justice:
Tommy Thompson cited a dead hearing aid and an urgent need to use the bathroom in explaining on Saturday why he said at a GOP presidential debate that an employer should be allowed to fire a gay worker.

A Salem, OR coffeeshop -- part of the Coffee Nation chain -- has found a way to turn around slow sales. "Its employees wear bikini tops when serving at the Salem drive-through," the report reads. It works; sales have doubled to $1,000 a day since the uniform change and one barista says her tips have tripled. It's like Hooters with the jitters. (AP)
