Typical Texas Christians
-Headline of the day-
"Facing a draft, Nugent bravely wet his pants." Right wing tough guy gun nut Ted Nugent "stopped all forms of personal hygiene for a month and showed up for his draft board physical in pants caked with his own urine and feces, winning a deferment," according to Richard Roeper.
Sounds about right -- another chickenhawk. Dying's a lot easier when someone else takes your place in line and does it for you, isn't it Ted? (Chicago Sun-Times)
-Next up, why Galileo was wrong-
PBS kids' show celeb Bill Nye the Science Guy learned just how gullible, stupid, and empty-headed some people could be during a recent visit to Waco, TX. During a speech, he pointed out that the biblical book of Genesis couldn't be right in it's assertion that the moon produces light (Gen. 1:16). See, that's where he got into trouble.
According to the report, "several people in the audience were 'visibly angered by what some perceived as irreverence.' A few walked out, and one woman yelled, 'We believe in God!'" Religious fundamentalists, people -- bringing you all the wisdom of the 14th century. (Carpetbagger Report)

-Republicans continue to be terrible hypocrites about sex-
Newly disgraced Idaho Republican Sen. Larry Craig has a message for America, "I am not gay, I never have been gay." Which makes his guilty plea to soliciting sex from a cop in an airport mens room a little confusing. Here's the mugshot fun:
Note the little flag lapel pin that all Republicans are issued at birth. The police report [PDF] on the incident describes a very complex mens room mating ritual involving hand signals, foot tapping, and Craig peering inside a closed bathroom stall for so long that the police officer was able to determine the color of his eyes (blue). They never got to the secret handshake. He also bragged to the guy he'd solicited that he was a Senator -- no one ever accused him of being brilliant.
Craig, the state chair for Mitt Romney's campaign, is just the latest Republican campaign staffer to run afoul of the law. Congressional Republicans, apparently sick to death of covering shit like this up, are calling for an ethics investigation.
Like most Republicans, Craig is a big fan of political gay bashing. And, like most Republicans, Craig's a big fat hypocrite. (CBS, USA Today, and stuff I heard on the radio while I was typing this up)
