The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 1/25/08

Rudy wipes his brow
Noted Forehead Polisher Rudy Giuliani

-Rudy takes another hit-
The New York Times has come out with their endorsements for the Presidential race. For the Democratic nominee, NYT recommends New York Senator Hillary Clinton. No surprise there, just rootin' for the home team.

It's the Republican endorsement that has to be slap in the face for Rudy Giuliani -- NYT endorses John McCain. Why isn't the editorial board rootin' for the home team in both parties? Well, in case Rudy didn't take the endorsement as a slap in the face, they made sure that they went out of the way to actually slap him in the face. From the McCain endorsement:

Mr. Giuliani's arrogance and bad judgment are breathtaking. When he claims fiscal prudence, we remember how he ran through surpluses without a thought to the inevitable downturn and bequeathed huge deficits to his successor. He fired Police Commissioner William Bratton, the architect of the drop in crime, because he couldn't share the limelight. He later gave the job to Bernard Kerik, who has now been indicted on fraud and corruption charges.

The Rudolph Giuliani of 2008 first shamelessly turned the horror of 9/11 into a lucrative business, with a secret client list, then exploited his city's and the country's nightmare to promote his presidential campaign.

Did I say a "slap in the face?" I meant a "bitchslap in the face." The NYT editorial board's endorsement of McCain is less a recommendation for John and more a warning to the nation that Rudy really, really sucks a lot.

Given Giuliani's performance in primaries and polls, I think we can assume that everyone's already figured that out for themselves... (NYT, via MoJo Blog)

-Hope you like primaries-
Because, otherwise, it sucks to be you. Turns out that even after "Super Tuesday," the date for primaries in more than 20 states, it will be impossible for anyone to claim a definitive win. According to the report, "The race for delegates is so close in both parties that it is mathematically impossible for any candidate to lock up the nomination on Feb. 5, according to an Associated Press analysis of the states in play that day."

Tired of the in-fighting, fed up with the false claims, sick of a media that blows up minor differences in to all-out feuds? Better get used to it or, at least, learn to live with it. We're a long way from done.

I recommend whiskey. (AP)

-Headline of the day-
"Breast Augmentation Available at Moundview."

Sounds like the place to do it. Someone alert John Gibson. (Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune)
