Texan with reason to celebrate
-Big Texas news-
No, not that big primary/caucus thingy. In Texas, it's now legal to go to a porno store and buy a dildo. According to the report, it was illegal "to sell or to advertise an artificial penis or vagina 'primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs.'" However, "The statute makes an exception for instances in which the purchase meets a 'medical, psychiatric, judicial, legislative, or law enforcement' need." So you could get a dildo with a prescription. I wonder how often that's happened?
This statute was struck down by a district court 'on the grounds that it violated the right of ordinary citizens "to engage in private intimate conduct in the home without government intrusion.'" True enough, but Texas State Attorney General Greg Abbott vows to fight to restore the ban. There are only four other states (Texas included) that ban phony genitalia and Texas doesn't want to be one of the forty-six New Sodoms -- like, say, Utah -- where anyone can get themselves a rubber dick at any moment.
That, apparently, would be a problem. (Slate, via reddit)
-Headline of the day-
"D&D Creator Gary Gygax Fails Final Saving Throw: Dead at 69."
The creator of Dungeons & Dragons, who the report tells us "has been in poor health for several years, suffering from heart problems and an aneurysm," advances one level from his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. If the creators of those bazillion video games that have grabbed his ideas don't at least send flowers, something's very wrong with the world.

-I guess they're home enjoying their newly legal sex toys-
Polling in Democratic Texas districts is hot and heavy. Some districts reported a "crush" of voters as soon as the polls opened at 7 a.m.
On the GOP side, not so much. "At Strickland Middle School (Precinct 403) in Denton, about 30 voters had cast their ballot by 9:30 a.m., according to an election official there," the report tells us. "At Wester Middle School (Precinct 146) in Frisco, there was no wait to vote on the Republican machines in Republican-heavy Collin County."
