Hillary Runs 'Popular Vote' Ad

Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) took to the airwaves in South Dakota and Montana today with an ad that pushes the idea that she is winning the popular vote in the race against Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) "Some say there isn't a single reason for Hillary to be the Democratic nominee," says the ad's narrator. "They're right. There are over 17 million of them."

The problem with this ad is that it's bullshit. Clinton can only make the claim by including the wildly unrepresentative Michigan primary (where Obama wasn't on the ballot) and by not including every single state that held a caucus.

In real world numbers -- not HillaryWorld numbers -- Clinton's 166,186 votes behind.
