-A change in strategy-
Florida Republican congressional hopeful, retired Army lieutenant colonel Allen West, represents a switch in strategy for the GOP. Seems the corrupt corporate buddy isn't the best brand to run on, so West's returning the party to its root '90s brand -- complete fucking whackballs.
West, who the report tells us "has virtually no chance to defeat [incumbent Democratic Rep.] Ron Klein in November," insists that middle eastern terr'ists tried to kidnap him to be on the teevee machine.
Seems a booker from Al Jazeera contacted him to "to come on a show and talk about the increase of violence in Afghanistan." This was all the evidence of a big terr'ist plot West needed.
"My B.S. flag really went up when they said they wanted my address to pick me up at night," West says. He insisted he "was not about to be a puppet" for a network "which has helped torment our men and women in uniform." Other AJ "puppets" who've been "kidnapped" by the network include Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff and John McCain.
"I don’t know if it was a kidnapping attempt," West says. "But I am not going to entrust Al Jazeera with my life. I said, ‘Cancel the interview!'"
West is said to be hiding under his bed with a tinfoil helmet, which keeps CSPAN from beaming instructions into his mind. (Blast Off!)
-Who's similar to who now?-
John McCain has put out a new ad comparing Barack Obama to Britney Spears. What's the connection? They're both famous, I guess. Look, you don't turn to McCain attack ads for any kind of logic.
Anyhoo, anyone with a memory will see that Spears has much more in common with another candidate -- namely, some guy named "McCain."
"Honestly, I think we should just trust our president in every decision he makes and should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens," Spears told CNN in 2003.
In April, McCain said, "No one has supported President Bush on Iraq more than I have... Let me emphasize that there are many national security issues that I have strongly supported the president and steadfastly so."
OMG! John McCain is just so Britney! (CNN, Think Progress)
-Headline of the day-
"McCaskill: McCain probably not proud of ‘stupid’ ads."
Missouri Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill thinks Baghdad Johnny isn't so proud of his campaign right now. "I don’t think that McCain is proud of the ads he’s running right now," said McCaskill, a national co-chairwoman of Obama's campaign. "I bet John McCain is embarrassed a little bit by some of these ads." The words "stupid," silly," and "juvenile" came up.
Unfortunately, McCain disagrees. "All I can say is we’re proud of that [Britney Spears] commercial," McCain told an audience here in Wisconsin. "...These campaigns are tough, but I'm proud of the campaign we've run."
One more bit of evidence in favor of the McCain=Bush argument -- McCain shares Bush's shamelessness. (The Hill)
