The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 10/22/08

Islamic fundamentalists protest with McCain sign
Typical McCain rally

-Headline of the day-
"Al Qaeda supporters endorse 'impetuous' McCain, seeking continuation of war."

That's right, the terr'ists haven't gotten the memo that Obama's their candidate of choice, not McCain. According to the report, "A Web site linked to international terror group al Qaeda has endorsed John McCain's presidential bid, believing the Republican candidate will keep US troops engaged in costly, intractable wars abroad and continue the policies of President Bush."

Yup, that's sounds like John's platform alright...

Here in the midwest, we've been getting these robocalls and flyers about how Obama's a freakin' terrorist and will blow us up in our sleep. This kind of sets that all on its ear.

"John McCain '08 -- endorsed by al Qaeda!" Somehow, I don't think that's the best campaign slogan. (Raw Story)

-Those who do not study history are doomed to make asses of themselves-
In a fairly new campaign tactic, John McCain is attacking his opponent where he's strong -- on the economy.

Speaking to Missourians, McCain repeated his line that Obama would raise taxes and limit trade. "The last time America did that it led to the Depression," he said.

So let's follow the reasoning here -- if we can. McCain has already established that Barack Obama's a socialist. So, Obama's socialism will manifest itself in tax hikes and restricted trade. This will lead to a depression. Therefore, by McCain's argument, socialism caused the Great Depression.

Maybe it's just my socialist public education schoolin', but I don't think that's quite right. (Kansas City Star)

-Bonus HotD-
"Bush created 4.8 million jobs while ‘tax and spend’ Clinton created 23 million."

Just something to keep in mind next time McCain says that rolling back Bush's topheavy tax cuts will cost jobs.

It's demonstrable bullshit. (Think Progress)
