The Stuff I Didn't Get To -- 12/4/08

Scene from 'Dial M for Murder'
Don't pick up the phone!

-Headline of the day-
"Ros-Lehtinen hangs up on Obama. Twice."

That'd be Florida Republican congress critter Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. According to the report, "[T]he congresswoman received the call on her cell phone from a Chicago-based number and an aide informed her that Obama wanted to speak to her. When Obama introduced himself, Ros-Lehtinen cut him off and said, 'I'm sorry but I think this is a joke from one of the South Florida radio stations known for these pranks.' Then she hung up."

So Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, called her, to see what was up. "Ileana, I cannot believe you hung up on the President-Elect," he said. So she hung up on him too. She then got a call from the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Howard Berman, who informed her of the identities of the people she'd been hanging up on. When Obama called again, she took the call.

"It is very funny that you have twice hung up on me," Obama said. Funny? Dude, it's hilarious. Ros-Lehtinen was trying to avoid the Palin-Sarkozy prank that probably put the headstone on the grave of the McCain campaign.

Now, if she gets a call from, say, Vladimir Putin, she won't know what the hell to do. My advice; let your calls go to voicemail from now on, Ileana. (Politico)

-A freakin' awesome idea that I heartily endorse-
In an interview with Glenn Beck, newly re-elected Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss put out his plan for taking back American for Republican Jesus; drag all the moderate Republicans right.

That's brilliant!

"Having that tighter margin I think is going to give us an opportunity to go to some of our moderates who have not always voted with conservatives and say, look, you know, this is the opportunity we have to define our party," Saxby said. See, he ran to the right and he got re-elected -- in Georgia, which is only slightly less red than Texas or Alabama -- so, it stands to reason that some moderate Republican in some purple state should do the same.

Remember how Karl Rove thought he had a plan for a permanent Republican majority? This is even better. It's a plan for a permanent Republican minority.

Genius! (Think Progress)

-Bonus HotD-
"One month later, four House races still unresolved."

This. Election. Will. Not. End. (CNN)
