No snow yet, but just you wait. Weather reports I'm seeing predict that the festivities will begin early this afternoon. Here's what things look like now, at about 10:30 AM:
It's toying with us. Now here's the news...
Steve Benen's take on yesterday's "leave Bill in charge" press conference:
Politifact fact-checks Bernie Sander's stemwinder yesterday and finds one statement true and one statement false. It was an 8 and a half hour speech. I'm kind of thinking he made more than two statements. On the false one, it looks like he could've avoided the red flag if he hadn't omitted two words. Instead of saying, "Last year, ExxonMobil made $19 billion in profit. Guess what. They paid zero in taxes." He should've said, "Last year, ExxonMobil made $19 billion in profit. Guess what. They paid zero in federal income taxes." I'm pretty sure that's what everyone took him to mean, anyway.
You know those spam twitter accounts that promise you hundreds of new followers if you just follow them back? They don't know shit. Post-filibuster, Bernie Sanders gains more than 4,000 new followers. Go ahead and add yourself to that number.
Some lefty perfessor who wrote a blog post for the Huffington Post once has been charged with incest. Of course, this proves that "leftism causes rape and incest." Because one guy did it once. It's kind of like how conservatism causes you to drunkenly shoot your hunting buddy in the face. Sometimes, I wonder if the right even knows what logic is.
I've always thought that railguns were insanely cool. Turns out we've got the best one in the world. The applications aren't just weaponry, by the way. We could use it to put things in orbit. That said, we'll probably use it as a weapon, because we're human and that's what humans always do first.
If you're in Los Angeles and you see some cop beating on a kid, don't film it -- unless you want to be charged with "attempted lynching." Photography is quickly becoming a crime in the US.
Finally, the GOP's habit of putting the fox in charge of the henhouse continues.

Steve Benen's take on yesterday's "leave Bill in charge" press conference:
I've seen some questions about whether Obama made a mistake yesterday afternoon, and the concerns are not baseless. One could make the case that Obama allowed Clinton to overshadow him and/or gave the impression that he needed Clinton to help make an argument the president has struggled to make. A president has a Bully Pulpit, which shouldn't be loaned to anyone, even predecessors.I think he's probably right. Still, the right is spinning it as a "Daddy come fix this for me!" moment. I don't think that meme is going anywhere, myself -- even though. to be fair, that is kind of what it looks like.
For what it's worth, though, I found yesterday afternoon's display quite compelling. Clinton remains the single most popular political figure in the country, with unrivaled popularity among Democrats. Having him offer a high-profile, widely-publicized endorsement of a controversial tax policy certainly won't hurt.
